DVDS

PLAYING

....

* play a dvd with mplayer

 mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/sr0

ISO

* mount an iso to see what is in it sudo modprobe loop sudo mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 cd_image.iso /media/cdrom sudo umount /media/cdrom ,,,

CDS

* find out what cd or dvd devices are available

 wodim --devices

* see what a device points to ls -l /dev/cdrw

BURNING

OR WRITING ....

'burning' a cd is just another way of saying writing.

* create an iso to be burned

 genisoimage -r -J -o cd_image.iso /directory

* burn an audio cd from wav files

 wodim dev=/dev/cdrw -v -audio [wav files...]

* burn a data cd from an iso file

 wodim dev=/dev/cdrw -v -data cd_image.iso

* burn to an undetected cdrw dmesg hda: PIONEER DVD RW DVR-108, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdb: IDE DVD-ROM 16X, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive [...] hda: ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM DVD-R CD-R/RW drive, 2000kB Cache

wodim dev=ATAPI:/dev/hda -data -v -eject your_data.iso ,,,,

tools .. wodim - the debian fork of cdrecord ..
